Bluetooth, Exams, and persuasive speeches

I came into work about two weeks ago an hour early to listen to a lady talk about blackberry devices for 45 min. on the phone with about 25 other people. I know it sounds boring but it really isn't that bad, even though it was 8:00 in the morning. What really motivated me was that after the conference call we had to take a test and if we got most of the questions right we got a Jabra Bluetooth headset. Now I haven't been so sure on these things. I thought it was weird cause I would see people who looked like they were talking to their selves but were using a Bluetooth, good thing is that these devices are becoming more common so its not as weird. I have one now and I just want to say I love it. You can tell it to call anyone or number and it will repeat it to you to make sure that's what you said. There are a bunch of different commands for it but you will have to get one to see what I am talking about. Only thing is that it look kinda weird. So if you see me and I look funny just do me a favor and lie to me and tell me it looks great. Thanks

Now about exams, I only have to take one out of all of my classes. That's freakin awesome. At my school if you make an A in the class you don't have to take the exam. So that takes care of two of my classes. In my Oral Communications class our persuasive speech counts as our exam, which was nothing. So Math is the only class I have to take an exam for. That means I only have to go back to scowl for two hours next thur. and that's it for the semester. Man I love college!!

OK now for the best part, for those of you that read my blog frequently you know that I talked about the two crazy girls and their speeches. Ok so now every one has given their persuasive speeches. The rest of them weren't that bad just normal stuff. This one guy talked about shortening the death row wait, pretty much saying lets kill them faster so we don't waste tax money on keeping them alive. I agree whole heartedly LOL. My friend did his on how the Xbox 360 is better than the PS3. But this one girl did the opposite on the death row and said that it is up to God to punish them. So according to her we shouldn't punish people at all and let these idiots run around killing, raping, beating, setting fire, wrecking cars, robbing, stealing, damaging property. I know that not what she meant, but I think it crazy because some one in her family was molested and the guy went free. Now in most cases people would be furious about this and upset, but I am not saying that is right. What I am saying is that it would be hard not to get mad and upset. So I am stunned for the fact that she is able to say this and not feel upset. Anyways she thinks that we should let these people go and go after the real criminals. So if this isn't a crime what is? However she did say that a lot of people on death row where poor and couldn't afford attorneys and DNA test and ect. I agree with this in the sense that there should be a set amount for lawyers and if you don't have money it would not matter and you wouldn't have to get the guy that the police appoint to you, who could care less. If its important to a case it should be payed for no matter what it is. Another's speech was on drinking at the age of 18. She said that if it were she would come in everyday drunk. Also another guy talked about stem cell research. The most interesting was a kid that said we should legalize weed. WOW. After we was done I didn't know what to say LOL.

Scars That Save

Ok most of the time it takes me a while to think of what to type about in my blog, but not today. I was listening to Kids in the way (weird name), a christian band, and looking up the lyrics for some of their songs. Well first of all they have some great songs, but the one that really caught my eye is called "Scars That Save". This song reminds me so much of my self. Sometimes it's so hard for me to see how Jesus could have died for me and that I am forgiven. I have done things that seem unforgivable in my eyes. He says in the song that he is dangerous, irrisponsible, arrogante, and feels unforgivable, but then Jesus shows him the scars that save. At the end of the song he pretty much says that it seems like an endless cycle: you mess up, you feel horrible for it, you beat yourself up cause you think thats what you deserve, but then Jesus shows you that he bore the scars that saved you from the pain and beating. Then he goes on to say that its killing him to know that He took the blame so he doesn't have to face God's judgement. Here are the lyrics:

Over and over your blood covers me.
How many times will it take me to see.
I am so dangerous.
I am so irresponsible.
Here I am, broken again, but then you show me,
you're wearing the scars that save.
How can you see me, as something so lovely.
Cause it's killing me that you took the blame.
Over and over it falls back to me.
My knees hit the floor and it's easy to see.
I am so arrogant.
I feel so unforgivable.
This is my same old song.
The one where I do it all wrong.
And I will try (fight) with all that I am to get it right in the end.

I do this I think more than anyone on earth. I beat myself up for the stuff that I have done. Jesus WANTS us to acknowlegde what He has done for us and accept Him as our Lord and Savior so He can become to blame, not us, for our sins. As J.R. said last night "that blows my mind and I hope that it will never stop blowing my mind".

Oral Communication Final Exams

Ok we are starting our exams for oral communication class. Our exam is a persuasive speech. I was lucky number one. I did great, the teacher said I made a 196 out of 200, which ends up being a 98 out of 100. That's awesome for an exam. The real reason I am posting is because two people that went after me had the most interesting speeches ever. One girl starting talking about people living together before marriage, which I thought was leading into persuading people not to do this, but much to my surprise it was exactly the opposite. She sad it would cause people much less grief in the end. They will find out what that person is really like, were they stay out all night of if they are mean, ect. My question is "Why would you ever marry someone that you don't know these things about already?" The other girl started her speech off by saying F**k, S**t, N****R, D**N, B***H, W***E, and so on. Her speech was on persuading "African Americans" to stop saying "Niga". Well that would be fine except that she is a hypocrite for saying all these words and then trying to get people to stop saying. The crazy part is that the teacher approved it but said we couldn't do anything on religion, sex, or tobacco, wow I have an interesting teacher. I am almost positive that she is lost. Which would explain it all. I did not sit through these speeches like my friend did making noises and make comments. I realized that if I would talk to these people about Jesus but didn't not respect them when they were talking then they would not respect me and probably not even listen. If you know me then you would know that it was very hard for me to sit through something this obscene and not say a word, but I did. We still have about 10-12 people left to give their speeches, this should be interesting.

On other news, I went bowling yesterday with the Sunday fuel class Bill Dunn and I teach together (11th and 12th grade guys Millington, TN). I bowled 6 games of 10 frames all in a row. I have not been this sore in a very long time. I can't even walk right its really funny, Josh keeps making fun of me for it. (Thanks for being a great friend Josh LOL) It hurts to even take off my jacket. But at least I can say that I bet Bill and once I got a 154 which I think is great for me.
